Through this site, you will be able to explore some of the key hunting weapons and techniques used by many different cultures and people. You will be able to travel through Ancient Greece to the Middle Ages to the Native Americans and to modern day. You may see many common and overlapping weapons, but the way they are used or the way that they are made has changed. As technology and our understanding of the world change, weapons become more complex and deadlier.
The Naturalia, Arteficialia, and Scientifica sections all explain very different weapons, but the weapons within each section may come up multiple times because throughout times, weapons change and are used very differently. For example, in Ancient Greece, a bow is made up of wood with string while the arrow is made up of a wood shaft and perhaps a stone head. Then in the Middle Ages the arrow evolves to have a metal head. Finally in the modern days, a bow is semi automatic and made out of plastic while the arrow has a plastic shaft and metal heads. Weapons evolve over time and can be seen all over the world because all people needed to hunt to find food. The similar weapons around the world can be seen because people traveled and shared their knowledge.
Weapons have been highly important throughout time. The history of weapons shows the travel of people and how they showed the sharing of information. Weapons show how things have evolved. Weapons were originally used to hunt and as a means of survival. The Ancient Greece needed to hunt to put food on the table for their families and community. Then in the Middle Ages, hunting served both as a means of survival but also became a way of showing wealth. The more money someone had, the more advanced weapons they could have. The highest sign being having a falcon to hunt with. Then comparing that to today were hunting has become more of a hobby rather than a means of survival. Hunting and the weapons used to do so have changed.
